2 Boxes (1 Gray, 1 Oversize)
Introduction
These papers were deposited into the Archives by Nevin
and Carolyn Albrecht in 1993 and 1996, on behalf of Anna
Marie (Shetler) Steckley and the Shetler family. The papers
span three generations from Iowa to Missouri to Michigan.
Anna Guengerich and Jacob Shetler grew up in Iowa and
were married in 1898. They moved to Centralia, Missouri,
around 1905, and stayed there for two years before moving on
and settling at Pigeon, Michigan. Anna Guengerich Shetler
died in 1942 and Jacob Shetler died in 1943.
Please note that the Shetler German Family Bible, Die
Heilige Schrift, is found at the Mennonite Historical
Library, Goshen College. This Bible was purchased by Ann
Shetler from the Mennonite Publishing House, Elkhart,
Indiana around 1900. Shelter wrote her family records into
the Bible, including the births of their 11 children between
1899-1917; two children died as infants. The Bible was
transferred to the Mennonite Historical Library, Goshen
College, to complement their book and genealogical
collection.
