These papers were deposited into the Archives by Anna

The collection contains correspondence, articles and
newspaper clippings regarding the court case of Schmucker,
who was convicted in October 1982 for failing to register
for the draft by a U.S. district court in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was ordered to pay a $4,000 fine, and was sentenced to
three years probation, two of which he served in public
service work at Emmaus Home, a United Church of Christ-
affiliated residence for retarded adults in Marthasville,
Missouri.

Schmucker was a Mennonite, from Beech Mennonite
