Hist. Mss. 1-868 (Long)
Carl W. and Mary (Dils) Nunemaker Collection

Papers, 1915-48, 1989
2 Boxes (Long)

Introduction

The three farm ledgers of Carl W. and Mary (Dils)
Nunemaker were donated to the Archives by sons Ivan, Willis
and John Nunemaker in February 1992. Further materials were
added by John Nunemaker in 1996. Agreement with the
Archives is that the ledgers may be loaned out to the sons.

The ledgers were started by Carl W. Nunemaker as a
single man at the age of 18. They became farm ledgers which
included detailed income and expenses of Carl and Mary as
they experienced farm life through the years, during World
War I, into the 1920s, and through the Depression and World
War II. The summary of each ledger as well as the
biography, as provided by John Nunemaker, help explain the
different entries.
