African-American Mennonite Association
Records, 1969, 1976-87

I-6-7   2 Boxes (1 Green, 1 Gray)

Introduction

These papers were deposited into the Archives by the African-American Mennonite Association in 1982 nd 1987.

This organization began in the form of an Urban-Racial Council in 1969. Later a separate Black Council was formed, around 1976-82. Two Black Caucus Assemblies were also held, one in 1980 and another in 1982.

In 1983 the name was changed to the Afro-American Mennonite Association, and in 1993 to African-American Mennonite Association. This association had an Executive Committee and held annual assemblies for all participating congregations. Office support for this association came originally from the Mennonite Church General Board, under the Office of Black Concerns.
