Re: John Horsch Mennonite History Essay Contest 2000
Note: Because too few papers
were entered in 1999 to run the contest, those entries are being
held for entry into the 2000 contest.
This is a call for papers
on a subject or theme related to Anabaptist or Mennonite history.
This may include congregational and institutional histories,
biographies, literature, theological, cultural and social movements
among Mennonites and related groups.
Classes
Class I -- Graduate
School & Seminary
Class II -- Undergraduate College & University
Class III -- High School
Prizes
First -- $100
Second -- $75
Third -- $50
All entrants receive
a one-year subscription to the Mennonite Historical Bulletin
(our quarterly periodical), and all winners receive
one year of the Mennonite Quarterly Review, (published
by a sister organization, the Mennonite Historical Society.
Regulations
1. All papers should
treat a subject or theme related to Anabaptist or Mennonite history.
This may include congregational and institutional histories,
biographies, literature, theological, cultural and social movements
among Mennonites and related groups. It is expected that the
papers will do more than summarize existing written materials
on the subject and that a variety of sources will be used in
each essay.
2. Papers must be typed with the following information on the
last page of the essay: writers name, mailing address,
school, and class in which the paper is entered.
3. All papers are filed in the Archives of the Mennonite Church;
they will not be returned.
4. Deadline: June 15, 2000
5. Send all entries to John E. Sharp, Director, Historical Committee
& Archives of the Mennonite Church, 1700 South Main Street,
